Money Mindset

How to create a money mindset without money taking over your mind.

The right money mindset will enable you to make key financial decisions every day. And those decisions need to be broken down into the ‘big’ money decisions and ‘small’ money decisions.

If you feel that you don’t have the right money mindset at the moment – don’t worry – because we can help you develop this with our WealthXplosion money program.

If you want to make better informed decisions and choices then getting the best possible start is right here.

Getting the right balance between getting enough money and making it work for you or slavishly lurching from year to year no further ahead is a reality for many of us.

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

There are a few misconceptions about money out there and these include:

Money is the root of all evil (or rather the love of money)

Rich people have been given everything to start with

Rich people are horrible people

If money and riches are so awful, why do so many people buy lottery tickets hoping to win millions?

Money Mindset Conflicts

On a deeper level you may have some ‘hang ups’ about money. These may include::

  • I’ll never be rich

  • It’s alright for the privileged because they can cheat

  • You don’t make money by being honest

  • Money can’t buy happiness

  • Get rich or die tryin

  • Money Money Money – it’s a rich man’s world

  • Getting paper

  • Show me the money

  • Money can’t buy me love

And so on and so on. Our beliefs can be shaped just as easily by the lyrics of a song as they can be by what we listen to as a child.

Compare two scenarios:

  • A child grows up where money is never mentioned.

There is always money, food, clothes, holidays, activities and harmony. They hear about empowerment, opportunities, business, partying and the freedom money buys.

  • Another child grows up in poverty.

There’s never enough money. Food, clothes, holidays and activities are a struggle. There is no harmony. There’s shouting and misery. There’s lack of power, feebleness, fear and drudgery.

Which house would you rather grow up in?

Money may not buy you happiness but being poor will definitely make you more miserable – guaranteed!

Limiting belief systems can yield a lifetime of poverty simply because beliefs are strong and without the right kind of ‘self talk’ money and making plenty of it can be hard.

Of course, we all know of those people that ‘come from nothing’ and make a fortune but their the exception rather than the rule.

If you believe you will make it, you will.

If you believe you will become wealthy, you will.

But wherever you are, no matter what age, background or educational experience it will not just come. You need to work smart and make sure your head is full of the right kinds of ideas and self talk.

Then the money will come.

Take a look at some of the selected quotations about money below:

Money can’t buy happiness, but it will certainly get you a better class of memories.

Ronald Reagan

If money is your hope for independence you will never have it. The only real security that a man will have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability.

Henry Ford

Buy when everyone else is selling and hold until everyone else is buying. That’s not just a catchy slogan. It’s the very essence of successful investing.

J Paul Getty

Wealth is a mindset. It’s all about how you think. Money is literally attracted to you or repelled from you.

David Schirmer

You will attract everything that you require. If it’s money you need you will attract it, if it’s people you need you’ll attract it. If it’s a certain book you need you’ll attract it? it literally moves into physical reality with and through you. And it does that by law.

Bob Proctor

A wise person should have money in their head, but not in their heart.

Jonathan Swift

If your not investing you’re doing it wrong

Warren Buffet

You can change your health, you can change your relationships, you can change your income, you can change anything.

Money is the sixth sense that makes it possible to enjoy the other five.

Somerset Maugham

Money gives you the freedom to do with your time what you want to do with it.

Richard Branson

Money is not the most important thing in the world. Love is. Love money.

Stacey Farrelly

Don’t tell me where your priorities are. Show me where you spend your money and I’ll tell you what they are.

James W. Frick

Resenting the rich is one of the surest ways to stay broke.

T Harv Eker.

Getting your yourself in the right money mindset direction

Making a financial plan is the way to take stock of your current situation, assess your current ‘net wealth’ and put in firm and well thought out plans to achieve your financial objectives. You need a plan for your money or your financial situation will not improve.

Making a great financial plan takes a lot of effort. Many of us overestimate our worth or the value of assets we have, so it’s imperative to approach financial plan making in a professional manner.

Getting rid of Money Mindset Blocks

Negative self talk, low expectations, pity and sorrow. Get up and pull yourself together!

Putting limiting ‘chit chat’ in your head is only going to lead you to disappointment and poverty. If you find yourself starting a thought with….’I wish’….’I hate it that…..’, ‘It’s unfair that…..’, ‘If only I…..’,

You get the idea. Moaning or complaining about what you haven’t got is not going to get you anywhere. Rather than making ‘friends and influencing people’ you’ll be lonely and depressed.

Negative thoughts about money and people that have money will eat you up until your consumed with your own dissatisfaction.

Get positive. Get real. Suffer and make sacrifices to educate yourself, get promoted, start that business, monetise, go get, go get, go get.

Getting in touch with yourself emotionally

We’re all human. We all experience emotions. For some of us these emotions can be stronger or weaker than those experienced by the next person.

If we’re feeling down money helps us by medicating us out of that down mood. It provides a ‘feel good’ factor.

However, this is often short in duration, like a drug addict getting a fix.

A fundamental shift must take place in order to get the WealthXplosion money mindset, and that means getting in touch with ‘yourself’ emotionally.

When do you want to spend money?

When you’re feeling happy or sad? What is it about new things that makes you feel good? Do you overspend? Do you spend money you don’t have?

Comparing Money Mindsets

Do you look around at others and become consumed with jealousy?

How do you feel when a family member, friend or complete stranger cruise by in the newest top of the range car?

Maybe a bigger, faster and sleeker yacht? It the bragging of the latest ‘far -flung’ exotic holiday making you simmer with envy?

Stop.

You need to compare your financial situation with what your financial situation was yesterday, last year, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago and so on.

The measure of your monetary success is personal to you.

If you constantly compare yourself to those around you then you will never develop the WealthXplosion mindset you need.

Talk Yourself  Up – Fake it until you make it

Even if you’re submerged in debt and struggling  – TALK YOURSELF – UP.

 ‘It’s going great’

‘I’m loaded’

‘It feels great that things are working out so well’

‘Everyday is getting better’

‘I can’t wait for it to pay off’

This type of positive self-talk goes a long way. Fake it until you make it!
